APPROVED BICYCLE LOCKS
Here, you can find the list of the bicycle locks currently on the market that has been tested and approved by Varefakta. The list is divided into brands as well as the type of bicycle lock. Every lock is written with its corresponding Varefakta Control Number, the VK-number. The VK-number can be found on the Varefakta Lock Certificate (Låsebevis) included when purchasing a bicycle lock from a Danish retailer. The VK-number can sometimes be found on the packaging as well. Most insurance companies in Denmark require that your bicycle has an approved bicycle lock attached.
All models on the list below has been tested and approved by the Varefakta Requirements for Bicycle Locks. There may be models on the list which are not available for purchase, e.g. because the model is so new that it has not yet reached the retailers or that the specific model is not imported or produced for the time being.
If you require a lock for your two-wheeled moped, the lock must fulfill the requirements set by the authorities. The authorities require that the lock’s material is hardened and has a minimum thickness of 9 mm. Varefakta recommends that you contact your insurance company regarding purchasing a lock for your two-wheeled moped.

Approval of a Bicycle Lock
Varefakta will help You through the process when You wish to have a bicycle lock approved. Approved bicycle locks are required by most insurance companies in Denmark if a consumer is to be compensated by the theft of their bicycle.
The approval process at Varefakta consists of multiple and various phases, see diagram. The process of getting a lock approved starts with the initiation phase which includes an inspection from a committee of lock experts. The Lock Expert Committee will compile a test program for the bicycle lock, if it is assessed to fulfill the basic requirements. Hereafter the bicycle lock will proceed to the test phase of the process.
When the bicycle lock has passed the tests the lock will proceed to the approval phase, which includes the approval of the Lock Certificate (Låsebevis) and the packaging. When the lock has received its final approval, it will de added to the list of approved bicycle locks on Varefaktas webpage.
JOIN THE TESTING OF YOUR BICYCLE LOCK AS A COMPANY
At Varefakta we provide companies the opportunity to attend the testing of their bicycle lock.
If You, as a company, wish to be present during the testing of your bicycle lock, you have full permission to both record videos and take pictures of the test. These can later on be used in future developing work, whether the lock gets approved or not.
Varefakta will always document the test of a bicycle lock by the means of videos and pictures. Varefakta will forward these videos and pictures to the company by request. Videos and pictures are handled by Varefakta as confidential material, why it will never be forwarded to a third party by Varefakta.
When Your bicycle lock has been approved, Varefakta will prepare a Lock Certificate (Låsebevis) unique to the approved lock. The Lock Certificate must always accompany the approved bicycle lock when purchased on the Danish market.
