We continuously test your Varefakta-labelled products
When your product carries the Varefakta label, it comes with an important promise: that the contents match what you state on the packaging. To maintain this high level of trust, we carry out a mandatory spot check approximately every 18 months.
The spot check confirms that the declaration is still accurate – and that weight, contents, and labelling are all correct. This gives you a strong quality mark and makes it easier for consumers to make a confident choice.
What does the spot check include?
- Accredited laboratory testing – We analyse the nutritional content and compare it to EU tolerances.
- Weight and content control – We check that the net weight, drained weight, or unit count matches the declaration.
- Packaging review – We ensure the information is still correct after any changes.
If we find any discrepancies, Varefakta manages the dialogue with the manufacturer and gathers documentation for the corrections. You are always informed if the spot check shows that something needs updating.
Authorities trust our control
Because Varefakta’s inspections are thorough and well-documented, the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration generally does not inspect the labelling of Varefakta-labelled products. This saves you time and gives you peace of mind.
Efficient, risk-based inspections
- Products are selected based on a risk assessment.
- The process takes about five weeks – from selection to receiving analysis results and documentation.
- The scope of analysis is tailored to the product, giving you an effective inspection without unnecessary costs.
